about
In his latest striking cover version, The Vernon Spring reimagines Beverly Glenn-Copeland’s cult classic ‘Sunset Village’ into a meditative piano sound-world. As with his previous renditions of other artists' material, The Vernon Spring manages to retain the essence of Copeland's original whilst infusing it with his own singular sound, delivering a hypnotic rendition that warrants repeat listening. Reflecting on the significance of the original, Sam Beste aka The Vernon Spring notes: “I have a special relationship with the original Sunset Village by Beverly Glenn-Copeland, as it's the song that can without fail calm and relax my youngest son if he's upset. There is a unique childlike quality of innocence to much of Copeland's work, whilst also having a sophistication and soul-searching depth, which is perhaps why it can simultaneously appeal to very young children and adults. After a night of playing it to my son the melody was swimming around my mind when I reached the studio and I decided to record my own version. I've tested my rendition out on my son, and thankfully it also has the same calming effect!"
